Lorna MacKinnon

Floristic Researcher

Since completing her MSc in the Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants at RBGE Lorna has participated in diverse botanical and plant-based projects and has experience of fieldwork in Africa, Central America, North America and the Middle East, particularly Oman.

She has worked on a number of digitisation projects with the RBGE herbarium and was introduced to CMEP through volunteer work on a field guide to the flora of Iraq; this eventually led to a contract to work as a field collections supervisor and assistant seed bank curator with the Oman Botanic Garden where she was based for 1 year. While working in Oman Lorna obtained an RBGE Certificate in Practical Horticulture.

Lorna is currently working on floristic accounts for the Flora of the Arabia Peninsula and Socotra.
